CRU! Architects
Since 2007, Sven Mouton and Hilde Duerinck have been the driving force behind CRU! Architects. With a PhD on building with bamboo and many years of experience in architecture, CRU! Architects focus on affordable construction, the creation of livable spaces and architecture in harmony with its natural environment.
We start from the client's question, the existing context and the available budget to offer customized solutions. From our home base in Ghent, we execute a diverse range of projects from smaller renovations to innovative bamboo constructions.
CRU! Architects embraces the use of natural materials such as bamboo, stone, wood and earth. However, ecology and sustainability extend beyond the use of merely ecological materials. It also includes responsible use of materials, reusing existing building materials and incorporating valuable architectural qualities already present on site. Our approach takes inspiration from historic buildings and construction methods, leading us to solutions for the future. During the design process, we also deploy the essential architectural principles of light, space, proportion and rhythm.
